Discover Our New Nicaraguan Coffee: Smooth, Low Acidity, and Full of Fall Flavor
We’re excited to introduce a new addition to our lineup: a Nicaraguan coffee that’s perfect for the season. With an incredibly low acidity and subtle, comforting flavor notes, this coffee is versatile across all roasting levels, making it a delightful choice whether you prefer it as hot coffee or espresso.
Now, in the title there a couple of acronyms SHG and CIPAE. These give further details as to the origin of this coffee.
SHG- Stictly High Grown. This specifies that the coffee was grown at an altitude around 1350 meters. Coffee grown at a higher altitude and lower temperature produces a slower maturing fruit and a denser bean; which creates a more desirable specialty cup.
CIPAE is a coffee cooperative in Nicaragua that stands for a commitment to sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship. Established in 2015 by 19 small producers. Current number of members: 53 coffee growers, including women, youth, and men.
Flavor Profile at Different Roast Levels
Light Roast: At a light roast, this coffee features delicate notes of apple and brown sugar that shine in hot coffee. While the flavor is subtle and sweet, it’s not quite robust enough for espresso. We recommend enjoying this one as a pour-over or French press to bring out its gentle complexity.
Medium Roast: Moving into the medium roast, the apple notes mellow out, allowing milk chocolate and caramel flavors to emerge. This is a fantastic choice for hot coffee, offering a rich and smooth experience. As espresso, it’s decent, but the hot coffee really takes the spotlight here.
Dark Roast: As a dark roast, the coffee deepens into flavors reminiscent of molasses, mingling with the rich, bold qualities typical of dark roasts. This level is an excellent choice for espresso, bringing out a robust, well-rounded taste.
The Roaster’s Choice: Medium Roast for Hot Coffee
While this Nicaraguan coffee offers something unique at every level, our favorite way to enjoy it is as a medium roast for hot coffee. The milk chocolate and caramel notes really shine here, providing a smooth, warming cup perfect for cooler days.
To truly savor these fall-inspired flavors, we recommend pairing this coffee with seasonal treats like a cider doughnut. It’s a match made in autumn heaven! You can order a bag today at our online store page!
